Tanya Snell

I'm proud to call Wasaga Beach home, where I've lived for more than 22 years and raised my daughter, who is now attending university. My passion has always been serving others, first as a Youth Worker, then as a Public School Board Trustee and Ontario Public School Boards' Association Alternate, and most recently as your Deputy Mayor and County Councillor.

My professional career has provided many transferable skills that I bring to public service every day. As a multi-award-winning entrepreneur, I built a successful digital marketing company that promoted local businesses, attractions and parks through interactive digital kiosks located in hotels, restaurants and Provincial Information Centres. That experience strengthened my skills in branding, marketing, communications, customer relations and public engagement, while also making me comfortable representing organizations through television, radio and public speaking.

More recently, my experience in multi-family real estate investing and property management has added valuable insight to my work on both County Council and locally, particularly on affordable housing, land transactions and responsible growth. My background in customer relations, marketing and business development continues to help me bring practical, creative and results-oriented thinking to every role I serve.

Serving as your Deputy Mayor over the past four years has been an incredible privilege. As a vocal member of County Council alongside Mayor Brian Smith, I have advocated for Wasaga Beach's successful high school submissions and helped secure an additional 145 affordable housing units planned for Zoo Park Road. As Council's representative on the Accessibility Advisory Committee, I've worked to strengthen communication, improve outreach and bring creative ideas forward that make our community more inclusive. I also proudly represent the Town through the Chamber of Commerce, serve alongside the Mayor on the Municipal Emergency Control Group, and have participated in AMO conferences over the past four years, advocating directly with Provincial Ministers for investments and support that have delivered significant results for Wasaga Beach.

I believe my experience in municipal government, provincial advocacy, business and community leadership has given me the proven experience required to continue serving our community and helping Wasaga Beach move confidently into the future.

Wasaga Beach has been my home for more than 22 years, and giving back to this community has always been one of my greatest passions.

In 2009, I was a founding member of the Youth Support Committee, helping establish the Wasaga Beach Youth Centre, which opened in 2010 and continues to provide an important space for local youth. Over the past 15 years, I've remained an active volunteer, helping organize and support countless community events and initiatives.

One of my favourite memories was coordinating fundraising for Snowman Mania, including the year the fireworks were launched from the roof of Canadian Tire—a moment many longtime residents still remember!

I truly love this community and wouldn't choose to live anywhere else... although a little villa in Italy someday wouldn't hurt!

Serving as your Deputy Mayor has been the greatest honour of my public service career. As a former Youth Worker, building strong communities has always been at the heart of everything I do, and these past four years have reinforced just how much can be accomplished when Council works together with a shared vision.

Together, we've delivered real progress for Wasaga Beach. We're seeing long-awaited investments in healthcare, education, infrastructure and economic development. New schools, expanded medical services, improved parks and roads, major commercial investment, and exciting waterfront revitalization are helping transform our community while creating new opportunities for residents and local businesses.

These achievements didn't happen by chance — they happened because Council worked collaboratively, built strong relationships with our provincial partners, and remained focused on delivering results for our community.

While I'm proud of what we've accomplished, I know our work isn't finished. We have the momentum to continue building a vibrant, sustainable and welcoming Wasaga Beach, and I want to help see that vision through.

I'm respectfully asking for your support to continue serving as your Deputy Mayor. It is a privilege to represent this community that my family has proudly called home for more than two decades. Together, let's keep Wasaga Beach moving forward.
